Mini 5-question interview with Julie-Ann

How would you describe the concept behind your etsy store?
Julie's Jewels - Artisan Beaded Jewellery & Home Decor... is my tag line and I think it says all that is needed!
Crystal Clear Lantern Crystal Earrings

Why did you first start creating jewellery and selling on etsy?
I started beading quiet a few years ago by going to a craft class that were making Christmas Decorations out of simple plastic beads. I had never beaded before but found I could follow the instructions and make up the decorations with no trouble at all, so I started to play around with a little jewellery for myself and it just exploded from there. I am now a member of my town's local business group - Business Nhill and have registered my Julie's Jewels as a business name.

I started to sell on Etsy because I became very disappointed with eBay, with their fees, with the way that the eBay company was dealing with their sellers and the way that eBay buyers only want a bargain for the lowest possible price. Etsy suits me much better as it is for handcrafted products.

Cool Waters - Aquamarine and Pearl Earrings with Swarovski Crystals

As one of the admins behind the Down Under Street Team (DUST), can you tell us a bit about the ‘DUST story’?
I joined the DUST team early last year when we were still on the Yahoo group, not much seemed to be happening so I put my hand up to help out and we finally made the move to the DUST Forum and WebSite at http://dustteam.com and now I'm the contact person if you want to join the team. So if you are an Etsy seller living in Australia send me a convo and I'll send you all the details on joining the team
Blue Goldstone Necklace and Earrings with Tibetan and Sterling Silver

Do you have a favourite piece in your store?
Of course I do, I have several actually - but if I have to pick just one it would be...
JJs - White Wedding - Polymer Sugar beads with Swarovski Crystals and Sterling Silver - ...if I wasn't allergic to Polymer Clay I would keep this set for myself

Tell us something surprising about Julie-Ann!
Is it surprising to know that I also sell Avon Products and in the last 6 or so years have been in my territories Top 10 Representatives. Also I'm to become a Nanna in December this year at just 42 - shhhh don't give away my age to anyone, it's our secret!

Sydney

Coffee Scrub Soap by InnerEarthSoaps

As many of you know, I have left the sunny Gold Coast, and returned to Sydney.... which to my surprise is COLD and wintery! Returning to Sydney is good and bad. I am looking forward to good coffee and yummy thai food, trips to Glebe Markets, catching up with old friends & everything else that is Sydney.

Seatbelt pouch by Interrobang

As you can see, I've been checking out etsy sellers based in Sydney. Lots of amazing things to go on my wishlist (sigh....it's a rather long wishlist). I really want one of these Seatbelt bags :( Will have to count my pennies.

Floral Falls Grey- Wall Decals by VinylWallDesign

I want this whole room. This is desire is perhaps heightened slightly by the fact that I am living out of boxes at the moment, and back in my room at home that I had when I was 16 (really...PhDs aren't worth it), spending most of my time in there to keep my kitty company until we try and introduce her to my family's cat.

White Seaweed - Oxidised Silver Earrings by Thingomatic

I'm sure some cocktails in Manly tomorrow night will help put the whole 'moving/life change' thing in perspective ;) Ange's earrings will probably want to come with me...
